Computer Font and Keyboard Program for MHA Nation Languages

The Language Conservancy has been happy and proud to work with the Three Affiliated tribes – the MHA Nation – to build a language education infrastructure for their three distinct languages: Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara.


All three languages are now served by a digital font program that provides unique orthographic characters specific to each language.

This program can be installed on either Mac or Windows operating systems and used by toggling an icon in the user’s tool bar.

The Three Affiliated Tribes hold their second MHA Summer Institute July 6-17, 2015, at Ft. Berthold Community College in New Town, ND.  This is a training session for language teachers, and anyone who wants to learn these languages.
